Windmills 

Windmills are windmills that convert the kinetic energy of the air (wind) into rotating energy of the vanes, which can then be used for useful purposes, for example for generating electricity, grinding grain or moving water.

Main types of windmills

There are two main types of windmill:

  1. The often 'industrial' windmills that serve to generate electricity and have become increasingly important as an energy source in the last decades of the twentieth century.
  2. The 'traditional' windmills, which were of great importance until the eighteenth century.
